Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a hot topic of today’s conversations in many areas of life. Business, education, Not-For-Profits, Police and Military Forces, Political Organizations, and more. This conversation is partly driven by the civil unrest occurring throughout our society.
As an Executive and Family Business Coach who desires to make a difference in the lives and businesses of my clients, I look for new tools that will more powerfully impact my clients’ worlds. This includes blogs, assessments, and pertinent webinar content that expands capacity of clients to meet current and future challenges.
Recently, I have become certified in a DEI tool called Awaken Unconscious Bias. It is a wonderful tool to begin the exploration of the intrinsic/hidden biases we all have that negatively impact our relationships at work and home. And we’re not even aware of that impact.
We will explore the nature of Bias, how it works, and how we can learn to interrupt and manage these Biases. As a result, I believe we can come to know ourselves and others as more fully human…where we see each other as human beings and not “the other”. I feel this would result in a huge positive shift in our relationships and in our society.
Currently, I’m exploring the impact of creating a Coaching Culture in organizations in conjunction with the Awaken Unconscious Bias tool. This exploration will support the necessary conversations of effectively creating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion throughout the business environment to support client’s success.
As this work unfolds, I’ll be posting new learning, successes, and challenges that point the way to future development in this highly important area of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
